Time to Fall in Love with Indoor Training

It is that time of year again - time for falling in love all over again with indoor cycling. Living and training in Missoula, Montana, I utilize indoor training year round. During this time of year, I am fortunate enough to be able to train with a Cycleops PowerBeam Pro about 5 days a week.

This time of year I am focusing on building a strong base through strength and conditioning. One of my favorite workouts to build leg strength that I do this time of year is an over-gear seated effort.

A big Howdy - post - Aloha - from Montana!

It has taken me a few days to gather my thoughts about the 2009 Ironman World Championships. What a remarkable day that took place. I completed my 4th Ironman World Championship crossing the finish line in 11th place. I certainly did not have the race that I dreamed of out there, but Saturday was a good reminder of how tough this sport really is. Particularly the event in Kona.

Aloha from Hawaii

by Linsey Corbin

I am writing in during my taper (rest) period before the Ironman World Championships, which will be taking place in less than a week. I came out to Hawaii on September 1st to help prepare for the Big Dance. I love coming out here early as you can get in some great cycling on the course, your body can acclimatize to the rough conditions (heat, wind & humidity), and you get in a nice block of final training.

Reporting from Vineman

Linsey Corbin On Sunday, I raced the Vineman triathlon in the wine country of California. When it comes to racing, some days you end up racing for first, and other days it means you are racing for 8th. I went to Vineman to race for first, but ultimately I am racing to prepare for Kona.

Linsey Corbin: Billy the Kid is Back!

Linsey Corbin Over the weekend I participated in Montana's Cow Country Classic bike race. Dubbed the "hardest road race" in Montana. I just finished up a big block of cycling-focused training, so I knew the opportunity to do a hard and hilly race would be right up my alley.

Linsey Corbin I woke up an hour before my alarm clock went off on Sunday like a kid on Christmas morning. I could not wait to race!! It has been since April 6th since my last competitive event, and let me tell you --- I had some pent up energy ready to burst at the seams!! It is good to know that my passion for racing is still there. In a big way. I just love it.

How to thrive during the 3 hour Solo Trainer Ride

by Linsey Corbin

With an outside ambient air temperature of 19 degrees, I hopped on my trainer for 3 hours of bliss. This was my second time riding 3 hours indoors this week. I am frequently asked: how do you survive long, lonely trainer rides? Well, here are my steps to not only survive, but thrive:

Linsey Corbin's Pucon 70.3 in Chile

by Linsey Corbin

The 2009 race season is upon us. Hard to believe! I raced the Pucon 70.3 in Chile over the weekend, and came second, for the second year in a row. As I told the race director, Pedro: I will be back!! I will win this race!

It comes as no surprise that this has quickly become one of my all time favorite races. Racing in Pucon is much more than just a race. The people of South America are all friends, they are so excited to see you around town and shower you with hugs and smiles. The food is amazing, and you really have the opportunity to embrace the South American culture... one night we witnessed a wedding parade in central park at midnight!!! The city of Pucon is in a fabulous setting that reminds me a lot of Montana: mountains, rivers, lakes, sunshine. It truly is a gem!

Linsey Corbin Reflects on a Successful Season

Linsey Corbin 2008 has been an amazing year for me... In only my second year racing as a professional triathlete, I finished every race in the top-five.

5th place & 1st American, Ironman Hawaii
5th place, Ironman Arizona
4th place, Boise 70.3
3rd place, Kansas 70.3
2nd place, Pucon 70.3
2nd place, Lake Stevens 70.3
1st place, New Balance 1/2 Ironman

I credit a large part of my success to the great cycling training that I was able to do this season. My coach, Lance Watson, had me do a few key workouts each week both on and off the trainer that was able to bring my cycling to a new level!

Ironman Hawaii - A Great Day at the Office!

by CycleOps Powered Athlete and Professional Triathlete Linsey Corbin

Linsey Corbin I am writing you to fill you in on my exciting day that landed me 5th overall and the fastest American at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii! I think it is safe to say that I am still on cloud nine about my breakthrough performance.

People keep coming up to me and asking me if I am surprised about my remarkable race. If anything I am more surprised to see a dream of mine become reality. From the start of the year, I have always been focused on a top-ten performance here in Hawaii. While I credit several factors to the success of my day, when it came time for the cannon to blow, I knew I was as prepared as ever to "crack a big one." I came out to Kona 5 weeks ago to prepare on the course. I was acclimatized and ready for every inch of the race course. My coach, Lance Watson, had me dialed in with some great breakthrough (and key) workouts. I was racing Ironman Hawaii injury-free for the first time ever. I had a great support network of sponsors and friends behind me. I knew I had done the work... Saturday was just a matter of executing my day.
