The eight team members of RaceAthlete united at the 2007 Wildflower triathlon. The weekend served as a team training camp of sorts giving the blogging athletes an opportinuty meet face-to-face instead of over the internet. They put their new epuipment and training to the test on a very difficult and unforgiving race course. The race served as a prooving grounds for all the new epuipment and training they have received over the last several months.
Athletes tested their 2XU wetsuits in the chilly waters of Lake San Antonio. They were able to dial in their cycling equipment on the brutal climbs of the cycling course--TT02 time trial bikes from BMC and 606 aero wheels from Zipp with built-in PowerTap SL 2.4 powermeters from CycleOps. The tough course helped them fine-tune their pacing strategies--with help from coaching through D3 Multisport, and the warm weather made it essential to have a good nutrition plan. The athletes kept their electrolytes in check with their NUUN hydration tablets. With representatives from many of the contributing sponsors in attendance, the the team had access to expert resources for any last-minute questions that came up in the days preceding the races.
When race day came, the team was ready. Bolder, Stu, Brett, Tyler, and Chris suited up to take on the Wildflower Long Course on Saturday. Everyman, IronWil, and RuralGirl took on the Olympic distance on Sunday. Both days greeted the athletes with sun and cloudless skies. The team did great, and everyone finished strong in their events.
