Indoor Cycles
Maintenance/Assembly
How do I change the hub batteries on a wired Pro 300PT Indoor Cycle?
Please refer to the the home IC assembly service manual.
What is the Home Indoor Cycle handlebar inside sleeve and how do I assemble it?
Please refer to the the replacement kit instructionsl.
How do I zero the torque?
Zeroing the torque is a crucial part of ensuring the accuracy of the PowerTap equipped Pro300PT Indoor Cycle. You should check to ensure the torque is zeroed before every ride. To zero the torque, follow these easy steps:
- Toggle the arrow until it points to the word “WATTS” on the bottom of the console.
- Press and release the SELECT button so the line at the bottom of the console reads “INCH-LBS” you are now in “torque mode”
- Spin the flywheel to illuminate the transmission icon.
- Stop the flywheel, and ensure there is NOTHING on the pedals or flywheel.
- Press and hold the SELECT button for 7-10 seconds making sure the torque value reads “0”. Release the SELECT button.
- Press and release the SELECT button to return to “WATTS” mode.
My flywheel seems to wobble a bit when I ride. Is the flywheel out of true?
No. Each flywheel must go through a stringent quality control checklist before it is installed on the CycleOps Indoor Cycle. You might experience some wobble due to the design of the PowerTap-equipped flywheels. They require that all the parts be threaded onto the axle. Sometimes, if a part is not threaded perfectly, you will witness a small amount of “runout”. More often than not, the flywheel may have shifted in shipping and just needs to be properly aligned in the dropouts. Contact your local Authorized CycleOps Indoor Cycle Dealer if you feel your bike needs to be adjusted.
Why does my bike feel unstable when I ride it?
Be sure all the leveling feet on the underside of the bike are touching the ground. If the locking nuts have not been tightened, the feet could inadvertently thread up into the stabilizer, resulting in a foot that is not touching the ground.
What kind of maintenance is required on the CycleOps Indoor Cycles?
The CycleOps Indoor Cycle has items on it that will need to be maintained (chain, cables, brake pads). Over time, the chain will stretch and need to be tightened in order to maximize the life of the cog as well as the chain. The chain will also need to be lubed monthly with a spray-type Teflon-based lubricant. Also, the cables for the resistance knob and emergency brake will stretch over time and will need to be tightened. Finally, brake pads will wear down over time and will need to be replaced. Your local Authorized CycleOps Indoor Cycle Dealer can make all repairs.
Sometimes I hear a rattling or grinding noise. What is that and how do I fix it?
Occasionally, a rattling noise may come from the drive train of the Indoor Cycle. This is usually caused by incorrect chain tension. A chain that is too loose or too tight can cause noise. If you are unfamiliar with the adjustment protocol for fixed gear drive trains, consult your local Authorized Indoor Cycle Dealer to have your bike serviced.
How do you increase resistance if you have the resistance knob turned all the way up?
If you have the resistance knob turned all the way to full resistance, and you still feel like you need more resistance, you may check to see if your cables have stretched. If the cables have stretched, you are not utilizing the full range of resistance available. You may also adjust the tension using the quick adjust barrel located at the rear brakes.
When do I need to replace the brake pads?
You should check the life of your brake pads every ride. Pads need to be replaced when there is no felt left between the black plastic pad housing and the flywheel. Replacement pads can be purchased at any Authorized CycleOps Indoor Cycle Dealer.
Do I need to lube the brake pads?
It is recommended that the brake pads of your indoor cycle be lubricated with a non petroleum based food grade silicone lubricant. This can help promote a more consistent resistance curve.
To do this, spray the lube directly onto the brake pads until the wool material is saturated. This will reassure that the resistance curve stays consistent over time.
Why can't I get my i400 (or PowerBeam) to pair to the Joule?
The PowerBeam and i400 CRU will need the pairing bit set to pair a new console. Recycle power on the device. This was done to facilitate pairing in a group environment. Once a CRU or PowerBeam is paired a new console will not pair to that device.
The brake pad on my i400 doesn't move.
Plug in the bike.
Console
Why doesn’t the console turn on when I start pedaling?
The console needs to be “woken up” in order to operate. To wake up the console, simply press any button on the face.
I bought the Pro 300PT but the console doesn’t say “WATTS” anywhere on it. Why can’t I see then watts?
Your console may have been inadvertently configured to a Comp 200E. If that is the case, it is easy to fix by following these steps:
- From the Dashboard, toggle the cursor to the MENU line and press SELECT
- Toggle the cursor to “Setup” and press SELECT
- Toggle to “Modes” and press SELECT
- Toggle to “Comp Mode” and press select to make the text flash. Use the arrow keys to toggle between “200E” and PT300” until the unit you have is displayed. When you have selected the configuration mode you want, press SELECT.
- Toggle to “return” to return to your ride.
Why won’t my Watts show up? Everything else shows up fine.
Double-check the connection between the console and the console bracket. Oftentimes, if the console is not connected properly, the Watts won’t register.
Why do my speed and cadence seem a bit off?
Due to the unique design of our flywheel, the perception of speed was a bit high on early models. We changed the settings in later models to make the speed more accurately feel like that of a road ride. Cadence was calculated more accurately based on the gear ratio as well. Make sure you have the latest firmware update (1.16).
Why do I sometimes experience periods of missed data during rides on my CycleOps Indoor Cycle?
CycleOps Power utilizes ANT+ technology to ensure a robust and reliable connection between the various sensors used in our products. However, there is a limit to the number of sensors that can operate in a given environment. Practically speaking, when riding by yourself or with others using less than 30 total ANT+ sensors, you should see no more than a 1% loss in data due to communication errors in your sensors. However, in an environment with more than 30 total ANT+ sensors you may see an increase in communication errors.

Why are there discrepancies between my PowerTap numbers and my Indoor Cycle numbers?
Due to the external factors of riding a bike outside vs. riding a solid indoor cycle, you may experience different values on your PowerTap. Also, with the special design of the flywheel, inertia plays a much bigger role in your workout on the Indoor Cycle vs. riding your bike on the road. For instance, a larger effort is required to get your Indoor Cycle flywheel up to a certain speed, but due to inertia, the flywheel will spin much longer than a regular bicycle wheel, resulting in less work being required to maintain that predesignated speed.
How can I view two separate rides on my console without erasing one of them?
If you don’t want to download after every ride but still want to view multiple rides, try using the interval function of your console.
Why am I experiencing dropouts in my transmission?
First, be sure to double-check all electrical connections to ensure they are properly attached. After that, make sure you have fresh batteries in both the console and the hub.
Can you hook this console up to any other virtual riding software?
The CycleOps Indoor Cycle is a stand-alone unit. It is not compatible with any 3rd party virtual reality riding software.
I’m having trouble downloading from the console to my PC.
Make sure you have the latest version of PowerTuned Agent software installed on your PC. The latest version of the software will have all of the USB drivers required to download from the console to the PC.
How do I export rides to my coach?
Highlight the ride in your activity window that you wish to send to your coach. Under the “Tools” menu select "Export activity data," and when the "Export Activity data" box pops up, save it to a location in your computer that you can easily remember. You can then email the ride as an attachment to your coach or anyone to whom you are interested in sending the file.
What are Power Zones? How do I use them?
Power Zones are simply ranges of wattage that you determine based on your lactate threshold (LT) value. Often, they are percentages of your LT value. Power Zones are used to control your training and gauge how hard you train. Consult a coach for more information on Power Zone training.
Hardware
Are there alternate handlebars available?
Currently, the only available handlebar is the multi-position handlebar that ships with the CycleOps Indoor Cycles. Be sure to check out CycleOps.com for all the latest accessories.
Does the CycleOps Indoor Cycle come with pedals?
None of the CycleOps Indoor Cycles come with pedals. We wanted users to be able to put any kind of pedals they want on the Indoor Cycle in order to most effectively mimic the fit and feel of their outdoor bike.
Can a different sized crank be put on the IC?
Currently, the CycleOps Indoor Cycle is spec’d with a 170mm crank arm length and Q-Factor of 168mm (outside to outside). Due to the higher RPM’s associated with indoor cycling, the 170mm cranks were put on for safety. At this time, the 170mm crank arms are the only length available.
Technical Specifications
How much does the IC weigh?
The shipping weight of the CycleOps Indoor Cycle is 140lbs.
What are the height and weight limitations of the Indoor Cycle?

We do offer an aftermarket seat post adapter that will bring the effective size down to accommodate someone 4’11”. Contact your local Authorized CycleOps Indoor Cycle Dealer for more information.
Why is the flywheel in the rear?
When we designed the Cyclops Indoor Cycles, we wanted to make the unit look like an actual bike. By moving the flywheel to the rear, we were able to more closely mimic not only the look of a real bike but also the feel. Finally, by locating the flywheel in the rear of the bike, we were able to keep it out of the “sweat zone” and thereby avoid contamination from sweat, leading to a longer life of the flywheel and resistance pads.
Why is the resistance knob so incrementally adjustable?
When training with power, it is important to be able to replicate a ride and the subsequent resistance that you experience. By making our resistance knob incrementally adjustable, it allows you to customize the resistance to whatever level you would like.

The CycleOps Club Indoor cycles come with a dual-sided pedal. One side is flat with a toe clip and strap, and the other side is SPD-compatible. Cleats are not included.
What type of shoes can be worn to ride the indoor cycles?
Due to the design of the pedals, you can use any athletic shoe, or you can use an SPD-Compatible shoe on the clipless side of the pedal.
Can I swap pedals?
Although swapping pedals is highly discouraged since the continual changing of pedals strips the crankarm, each facility should have its own policy on swapping pedals.
Why power?
Power is the only true measure of the effort you are putting into turning over the pedals. Because the CycleOps Pro 300PT measures power (no other bikes measure power), it also measures work done on the bike, expressed in kilojoules. The key is that the CycleOps bikes MEASURE power. If you can measure something, you can improve it. CycleOps Club Pro 300PT Indoor Cycles are the only bikes that allow you to accurately measure your performance improvements.
