Five dollars of the sale of each pink Saris Bones rack will go to breast cancer research at the UW Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The UW Carbone Cancer Center is the only comprehensive cancer center in Wisconsin, as designated by the National Cancer Institute. The Cancer Center unites more than 250 physicians and scientists who work together in translating discoveries from research laboratories into new treatments that benefit cancer patients.

The UW Carbone Cancer Center is leading a number of cutting-edge breast cancer research initiatives. A few of their current research endeavors include:

  • Studying aspects of mammary gland biology and neoplasia using transgenic mouse models
  • Modeling of stem cell-based breast cancer
  • Analyzing adult stem cell responses during tumor initiation
  • Identifying genetic elements in animal models that prevent breast cancer
  • Developing readily translatable surrogate biomarkers for hormonally non-responsive breast cancer chemoprevention trials
  • Understanding the molecular mechanisms governing the activity of estrogen receptor, a member of the nuclear receptor transcription factor family that is critical in normal reproduction and is implicated in the pathogenesis of breast cancer.
